Day 35: Be Prepared

Today I was thinking about the Boy Scout motto, Be Prepared. Those two words have had a pretty big impact on my life. It's a rare thing to see me without my pen and pocketknife, as well as a bag of tools kept in my car. The thing about being prepared is that you never know what will happen, so you have to plan for everything. Obviously, you can't possibly have the right tools to handle every single possible disaster, but you can be ready to handle most things. I usually have more than I need to tackle the daily issues since it's not every day that you use a pocketknife or a power drill, but I've found that most of the things that take me off guard require knowledge that I haven't acquired yet. That's why I have my dad on speed dial! It's also why I am using this month to learn about things that I might use in the workforce, specifically software that might come in handy. I guess you could say I'm working on filling out my intellectual toolbelt! Even if I never use a certain software, I think it's better for me to be prepared than to need familiarity with something that I'm not even close to familiar with.

Over the next few weeks, I am going to write a few blog posts about some software that I have selected (with the help of my awesome advisor Hannah) and post them here, possibly with a short tutorial video if anyone is interested in learning about them as well. I'm looking forward to expanding my horizons and hope you are all interested to hear about them! Stay tuned!
