Day 7: The Power of Communication

Today was a very long day. It wasn't "full" per se, but what it did consist of was quite mentally draining. I spent a large portion of it speaking to customer service on behalf of my grandfather and dealing with very thick accents (you know how customer service is). I came home and just wanted to crash.

But I didn't. Instead, I hopped onto a video conference call with a bunch of other Praxians to kick off the month. And it showed me that communication does so much more than just make things go smoothly (such as in a work environment) or allow us to share ideas. I felt rejuvenated afterward; like a switch had been flipped inside my head that filled me with energy. Today I learned that communication and sharing ideas with other people doesn't just inspire, it invigorates. It brought me to life in a way that closely resembled a runner's high. And I got a new perspective on the power of words and ideas.

Words have power. Communication is a skill that has the ability to inspire and invigorate, to bring a people together or tear them apart, to make a process run smoothly or crumble into chaos. I think that far too many people have neglected to harness the full potential of their words, and even more have used words for darker purposes.

Every single person has the tool of language at their disposal, the question is how will you use it?
