Day 30: No Such Thing As Losing

There is no such thing as losing, only winning and learning. I stole that from a trailer I saw today but it totally knocked my socks off when I heard it. It's so true and yet we don't really think about it like that. We get so hung up on "losing" that we forget to appreciate the learning experience we gained.

I had an interview in February for a position that really excited me. First of all, it was only two months into my program and usually you don't get offers until around the fifth or sixth month, so that was incredible. Second, it was a combination of two fields that both interested me. And third, it was in a location that I really wanted to end up in. It ended up falling through, which is fine now because I found out they would be moving fairly soon and I wouldn't end up where I wanted to be, but I still didn't let it get me down even before knowing that. I looked at it as a learning opportunity and appreciated the interview experience so early in the program, and that changed my whole perspective. Instead of feeling sad or demotivated because it didn't work out on the first try, I decided to keep moving forward and grow from the exposure.

Next time you feel like a loser, think of yourself as a student instead. A student of life. It changed my whole perspective, so maybe it can change yours too!
