Day 12: Laughter is Healing

laughter.jpeg

The past couple days I have been watching Netflix comedy specials, and I've come to the conclusion that laughter makes everything better. To clarify, I've always felt that laughing does wonders for the spirit of a person but recently was the first time I experienced it for myself in a way that was clear. I love to make people laugh. It's just how I'm wired. It makes me happy to see other people happy and know that I did that. I made someone's day a little bit better. I guess that's my superpower [referring to Day 3 :)].

But yesterday I felt that for myself in a way that I couldn't ignore. Not to say I've never laughed before don't get me wrong! I have experienced that laughter that makes everything seem distant before (many times during my time at Shorter), but yesterday I had an epiphany along with that laughter. Laughter can heal the most broken of hearts. It doesn't matter how difficult a situation is if people can find a way to laugh it will make it a little more bearable. Even if it's that small laugh out of the side of your mouth because you remember something used to do that was quirky or silly. All kinds of laughter have the same effect.

So if you are going through a difficult time, consider this your prescription from Dr. Laughter. Go watch a comedy special or some comedy Youtube videos. If you need a suggestion feel free to message me on Facebook or shoot me an email. Those links are on my homepage. But go laugh. It will help I promise.
